Pretty In Pink

Dress: Michael Kors; Earrings: nicole by Nicole Miller; Cigar Ring: LC Lauren Conrad; Other Rings: Forever 21; Aviators: Tahari; Pumps: Aldo

Summer will be winding down soon (I know, I know...how DARE I even type this!) but it's not stopping my playfulness. I want to be outside and play. Why should children be the only ones to have a playful summer?

I found this Michael Kors dress at my local Marshall's and was completely drawn to the bubble gum pink hue. The color is so eye catching (well, that and the slinky body hugging material!) and I immediately had to have it.

Did I mention it was also on sale? Yet another reason to own it.

These gold Aldo pumps (bought years ago, but are a classic!) worked perfectly for this dress. Did you know that a pointed toe on a pump helps elongate your legs? Needless to say, I LOVE a pointed toe! And who doesn't want longer legs, you know?

So here I am with a slinky dress and a fierce metallic gold pointed toe pump with a silver heel. Where does a girl go from here?

Fabulous dinner with my hot date? Drinks with the girls?

Nope.

Let's go to a playground!

...You didn't forget that I said I wanted to play outside, right?

Chill Out

Sunglasses, Earrings, Leaf Necklace and Rings on right hand: LC Lauren Conrad; Wristlet and Pumps: Jennifer Lopez; Denim and Bar Necklace: Old Navy; Tank: Tahari; Rings on left hand: Forever 21

For this blog post, I went to the dark side. Well, the grey side.

It may be hard to believe, but grey is one of my favorite colors to wear. I say this, because looking at my closet and even on this blog, I play A LOT with bright colors.

The number one reason I love to wear grey is because it brings out my eyes. Yes, I have grey eyes. Not blue. I cannot tell you enough how many people assume my eyes are blue. Nope, if you place me beside someone with blue eyes, you can clearly tell my eyes are grey (a trait inherited from my father).

I also love grey because to me it's very "chill." Granted, it may not catch someone's eye like a bright pop of red or be as chic as head to toe black, but it definitely holds it's own.

I went into Old Navy recently and fell head over heels with these skinny jeans. The Rockstar fit is PERFECT for my body type and this shade is perfection. While at the mall, I strolled into Marshall's and this Tahari tank basically yelled out to me. So OF COURSE I had to answer back (at the register).

As soon as I put two and two together, I knew the most perfect pairing would be my Jennifer Lopez blush studded pumps and pale mauve faux snakeskin wristlet.

This was a good look, if I say so myself. I was comfortable (don't scoff ~ platform pumps really ARE comfy) and cool. You don't always have to stand out in the crowd in crazy prints and bright colors. So chill out! You can be just as stylish rockin' some grey with fabulous accessories in a complimentary hue.

Box of Style - Summer 2015

Sunglasses: Armani Exchange; Earrings: nicole by Nicole Miller; Handbag: The Cambridge Satchel Company; Tee: Juicy Couture; Bronzer and Lip Crème: Too Faced in Sun Bunny and Spice Spice Baby; Ring: Simply Vera Vera Wang; Shorts: Old Navy; Wedges: BCBGeneration; Sarong: Mara Hoffman
*Box of Style products in BOLD

I'm a happy girl!

I mean, I am a HAPPY, HAPPY girl!

I got my Box of Style in the mail! For those friends of mine who have no clue what I'm talking about, let me fill you in.

Rachel Zoe (the GORGEOUS celebrity stylist and entrepreneur) and her team at The Zoe Report have curated seasonal boxes of their favorite products and for a fee (you can either buy a seasonal or annual membership) you receive these sleek black boxes filled with goodies for each season.

Unfortunately, I was unable to score the inaugural Spring 2015 Box of Style, but I anxiously awaited the Summer 2015 Box of Style and I am going to unveil it to you all now!!!

~ Mara Hoffman Sarong ~ This sarong is beautiful and it can be worn a number of ways (for example, I used it as a dress!) and I'm looking forward to wearing it come Fall as an eye catching scarf.
~ The Cambridge Satchel Company White Leather Pushlock Handbag ~ This handbag is so chic and comes with a removable crossbody strap. Personally, I love it more as a clutch but love the versatility of it.
~ Too Faced Bronzer in Sun Bunny and Lip Crème in Spice Spice Baby ~ Let's face it, no Summer is complete without some bronzer and this lip color gives just the right amount of color. I'm a lip gloss kind of gal, so I am very picky about lipsticks but this completely won me over!
~ O.R.G. Skincare Mineral Face Peel ~ This face peel is great! As soon as I used it, I felt a cooling sensation and knew immediately it would work wonders on my skin. Just spritz some on, wait a couple seconds and then exfoliate. This product will definitely become a staple in my beauty routine.
~ Bristols 6 Nippies ~ As a world famous stylist, Rachel Zoe knows all the tricks and tools of styling and these are perfect for sheer tops and styles such as halters and racerbacks (when a bra just won't work).

Is it wrong that I am already obsessing over what may come in the Fall 2015 Box of Style???

Stay tuned!!!

Summer Lovin'

Sunglasses: Tahari; Earrings, Flip Flops, Floral and Stone Rings: LC Lauren Conrad; Lizard Ring: Jennifer Lopez; Gold Bands: Forever 21; Bar Necklace: Old Navy; Scarf (around wrist) and Palm Tree Charm: My Grandmother's; Tee: Rock & Republic; Denim: DKNY Jeans

Someone said something horrific to me the other day.

"Christmas is just right around the corner!"

Say what, now?

No, it's not. It isn't even close. It's not even Fall! Why are we wishing time away? I cannot understand why, in the middle of Summer, people are looking forward to Winter.

Me? I'm taking in as much Summer as I can. I'm always trying to wear as much white as possible. It's crisp and clean and bright, but who am I kidding? We all know I love pops of color, which is why I grabbed this scarf.

My grandmother was known for her scarves. She never left the house without one. She has been gone a couple years now, but I still take out her scarves and "play dress up." For this blog shoot, I decided to wrap one around my wrist for a new look. And I LOVE the way the purple pops against not only the all white ensemble, but also my Stella & Dot clutch.

Is the print on this clutch not fabulous???

I love to add on Summery accessories (hence the botanical clutch) like this Palm Tree charm (also my grandmother's), my nautical earrings and of course my LC Lauren Conrad flip flops.

Why are we thinking so far ahead? Sure, I'll admit. Fall is my favorite season. And of course I love Christmas...but why rush this Summer? Why wish it away? I'm not. I refuse. I'm going to enjoy my Summer...and look stylish and fierce as I'm doing it!

A Blank Canvas

Tee: Rock & Republic; Black and Gold Bracelet: nicole by Nicole Miller; Bangles and Gold Rings: Forever 21; Sunglasses, Clutch and Heels: Simply Vera Vera Wang; Bar Necklace: Old Navy; Cigar Band and Stone Ring: LC Lauren Conrad; Hoops: Unknown (gift); Skirt: Milly for DesigNation

For years and years my professional career revolved around visual merchandising. I loved it. I mean, I LOVED it. To me, it's an art form. You have a blank canvas (otherwise known as a mannequin) and plenty of options to work with. Most stores have strict guidelines from corporate for what they want the mannequins to wear and look like. Of those stores, a good amount of them will then give you creative freedom to do what you please.

This could mean in the store windows (when I worked at bebe, I had extra windows to play with), walls (there are ALWAYS extra walls to fill in), tables, racks and fitting rooms (the best was at Tilly's...we had about 15 extra full body mannequins that stood over the fitting rooms...those were my absolute favorite ones to dress).

Some stores like simplicity. A dress and a simple bracelet. Maybe, just MAYBE you could place a handbag on a silver stand beside the mannequin. Others want over the top. Just when you think you have the windows filled up enough, there would be the tiniest white space (blank wall) that you would have to cover. More often than not, that meant shifting the ENTIRE window. And when I say window, I mean a HUGE window. To shift one window could take hours.

I believe it is with this experience (14 years worth) that has helped my own personal style. I like to play around. I don't ever want to dress boring. I want to have fun with my wardrobe. Sometimes I will choose simplicity. Which is why I chose this beautiful Milly for DesigNation pencil skirt. The look and feel is sleek and simple. However, I then decided to go the other route and be a little over the top. Which brings us to this Rock & Republic Guns N' Roses tee and plenty of accessories from the jewelry to the clutch to the fierce Simply Vera heels and sunglasses.

This look encompasses my personal style. I love to play with fashion. Why not pair a tee and a pencil skirt? This is one of my favorite pairings (as seen on this blog). I'm also a fan of accessories. The more the better! Even though I'm staring in my own closet at my own wardrobe, I can't help but bring out the visual merchandiser in me and create a fab new look...with myself as the blank canvas.
